Holmatro on board

CEO Jaap Meijer is building upon that success and is the first sponsor to re-sign for any year of eXtreme 40 sailing: "These boats are spectacular to race and for the public to view the racing so close to the shore. They are fast, competitive and thrilling to watch. This class brings the sport of sailing so much closer to the general public."
Holmatro is no stranger to the sailing circuit having maintained a close and successful association with the Dutch raced Grand Soleil 44 (2003 - 2007). Building on that relationship the company supplies the eXtreme 40 fleet with hydraulic mainsheet systems and custom designed winches. A high-tech boat requires high-tech products. The combination of the eXtreme 40 class and Holmatro surely provides some spectacular sailing!
iShares Cup attracts sailors and spectators
The iShares Cup Sailing Series that took place this summer, have been a great success. In front of many spectators, the top sailors stole the show while competing for the first place. The races with the eXtreme 40 catamarans bring sailing close to the spectator.
The catamarans even got so close to the public, they could almost touch the boats from ashore. Being so near, they could see the sailors in action and feel their excitement on the water. Obviously enjoying the action, the public cheered for the sailors. The fourth round of the iShares Cup even attracted 50,000 people watching the races from ashore. In total, an estimated 150,000 people came to watch the iShares Cup races!
Not only the spectator enjoys these races. The eXtreme 40 class also attracts the world’s best sailors. Among them were Olympic sailors, Volvo Ocean Race sailors and America’s Cup sailors.
The eXtreme 40 catamarans, with Holmatro hydraulics and winches onboard, are often compared with Formula 1 cars. They are the fastest sailing boats and extremely maneuverable. This makes them suitable for sailing short tracks close to the shore.
